Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Lucas Moura, Jamie Vardy

Manchester United's rumoured interest in Paris Saint-Germain's Lucas Moura could reportedly be hindered by his wife's reluctance to swap the French capital for Manchester.
According to Warren Haughton of The Sun, Lucas is eager to join the Red Devils having played just 79 minutes of football this season following the arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
However, his wife, Larissa Saad—who recently gave birth to their first child—is not so keen on the idea after discussing life in Manchester with Jorgelina Cardoso, the wife of PSG team-mate and former United star Angel Di Maria.
Di Maria spent just one season at Old Trafford, and he failed to settle in the north-west of England—a situation worsened by an attempted robbery of their Cheshire home.
United need just nine more goals to equal last season's Premier League tally of 54, but more firepower is needed to help them reduce the gulf between themselves and Manchester City, who sit 15 points ahead in the table.
Football writer Ryan Baldi discussed the qualities Moura can bring, but he believes he isn't of the standard required at Old Trafford:

Indeed, it's far from guaranteed the 25-year-old would be a success at United, given concerns regarding his struggles to meet his potential and issues with consistency he's had in the past.
That said, last season he was impressive throughout much of the campaign, and he enjoyed a productive year in front of goal as a result.
Sports writer Adam Joseph shared his numbers and gave his take on a potential move to United:

If acquired cheaply, he could prove to be a shrewd purchase for the Red Devils, and it would also mitigate their risk if he fails to work out.
However, if the Brazilian's family aren't keen on the move, it could prompt him to explore other options this January.
Meanwhile, according to Rob Tanner of the Leicester Mercury, United aren't set to make concrete their interest in Jamie Vardy, with Leicester City determined to keep the striker and prepared to make it an expensive deal to pull off.
Vardy may not be the top-level forward United fans crave, but there could be some merit to his acquisition given his record against the Premier League's elite compared with Romelu Lukaku, who has a reputation for being a flat-track bully.
The Mercury's James Sharpe compared their records:

Indeed, Vardy has scored against each of the "big six" this season, while Lukaku has failed to find the net against any of them. The Foxes striker's counter-attacking threat makes him more suited to playing against those sides than the Belgian, particularly given manager Jose Mourinho's often defensive approaches in such games.
The England international is 31, though, and would otherwise perhaps be an ill-fit at Old Trafford week in, week out, so it's understandable they're pursuing other targets.
