Former New York Observer editor Ken Kurson argues Trump is a 'normal' person because he 'watches golf'

Former New York Observer editor Ken Kurson hung out with President Trump on Saturday at the U.S. Women's Open golf tournament at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Despite the president staying safely tucked away from the masses in a giant, protective "fish tank" that towered over the 15th, 16th, and 18th holes, Kurson argued to CNN's Brian Stelter that Trump's attendance just proves how ordinary he is.
In Bedminster, Trump watched the U.S. Open on TV "like millions of other Americans," Kurson said. "And I think that's what people don't get about why this president resonates. He is a normal person. He watches golf. He enjoys it."
Despite Kurson's inspiring words about the power of golf to bring people together, Trump has argued to keep the sport exclusive to rich people. "Let golf be elitist," Trump said in 2015. "Let people work hard and aspire to someday be able to play golf. To afford to play it."
To Kurson's point, though, at least the president's hobby is a little more relatable than bidding on rare art or fox hunting. Watch the conversation below.
